My talent is people. My Photographic Style: People Photography with Depth and Feeling.

Photography is an expressive, positive art. Photos bring great joy and that is what I love: bringing people joy with my photos.

My photos are intimate and beautiful. I try to capture the personality of a person or the romance and the fun moments of a wedding. Often my subjects, especially at weddings, are not aware of my presence.

I work in a personal and informal way. I believe it is important to build a connection with the people I photograph.

I grew up in Hobart, and spent a lot of time in the Tasmanian mountains and bush. Both my parents were keen adventurers, bush walkers and talented photographers. Even as a child I was photographing people and wild and beautiful places. I could hardly wait for the Kodachrome slides to arrive in their yellow box in our letter box.

I began photographing seriously in my twenties and studied photography at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart.

As a professional, I have photographed countless weddings, children, old people, young people, politicians, business people, choirs, buskers and rock bands over the last 20 years. In the late 80’s and early 90’s I lived and worked in Amsterdam, The Netherlands for 5 years. I established myself there as a successful free lance photographer. I have had photos published as a best selling series of greeting cards in Holland and have had photos published in newspaper, magazines and web sites in Australia, Holland and Denmark.

I get asked sometimes what equipment I use. It is my strong belief that it is the person behind the camera that really counts, however, I only use Canon professional digital cameras and lenses and Apple computers and software for my work.

I support the RECLINK TASMANIA CHOIR OF HIGH HOPES. I hope you will too.

Warmest wishes, Karen
